A simple sign-up process

Most people expect the sign-up process for cryopreservation to be complicated.

I understand why. The service involves contracts, funding, emergency coordination and a procedure that may happen many years from now. It sounds like the paperwork should arrive in a suitcase.

It does not.

The difficult part is deciding whether you want biostasis. Once that decision is made, signing up with Tomorrow.bio is a short sequence of clear steps, and we guide you through them.

People sometimes treat membership, the contract, funding and emergency preparation as four separate projects. That makes the whole thing feel much larger than it is.

They are really one chain. Your part is to provide accurate information, sign the documents, establish accepted funding and make sure we can be notified. Our part is to help you complete that chain and run the operation when you need us.

Start with the short part

The online form creates your Tomorrow.bio membership. You provide your basic personal and payment information, choose a membership option and accept the current terms.

According to Tomorrow.bio's current terms and conditions, membership begins after the membership sign-up form is completed.

This is the first milestone, not the entire cryopreservation arrangement.

After signup, Tomorrow.bio uses the information you provided to prepare your Biostasis Contract. The contract is pre-populated and sent to you, so you are not starting with a blank legal document and trying to work out what belongs where.

You read it, check that the information is correct and sign it. The contract takes effect when Tomorrow.bio countersigns it and confirms acceptance electronically.

That distinction matters. A paid membership keeps Tomorrow.bio's operational infrastructure ready. The Biostasis Contract provides the legal basis for Tomorrow.bio to perform the agreed cryopreservation services.

If you complete one and ignore the other, you are not fully set up.

This is where the process becomes pleasantly boring. You can see what is complete and what still needs attention instead of keeping the entire arrangement in your head.

What we still need from you

A simple process still needs real inputs. We cannot choose your preservation option, invent missing personal information or create funding on your behalf.

First, decide whether you are arranging whole-body or brain-only cryopreservation. The current Tomorrow.bio funding policy lists minimum funding of €200,000 for whole-body preservation and €75,000 for brain-only preservation.

Those are the amounts published on 27 August 2026. The policy in force when you sign is the legally relevant version, so check the current document rather than relying on an old article or somebody else's contract.

Next comes funding.

Most members use life insurance, while others use assets or a funding structure that Tomorrow.bio has accepted in writing. The important word is not wealthy. It is funded.

A relative saying, "I will take care of it," is not the same as money that can reach Tomorrow.bio when the operation starts. We have seen why arrangements that depend on a grieving family member can fail at exactly the wrong moment.

Your plan should work even if nobody has the energy to make a fresh financial decision after your death.

Our insurance partners can guide the application and underwriting process. If you use a local insurer or another method, we tell you what evidence is needed and confirm whether the arrangement is acceptable.

The details are covered in setting up your funding method. Do not stop at an application form. Insurance is only in place after underwriting is complete, the policy is active and the beneficiary structure is correct.

We also need current contact, residence and health information when requested. If you move country, change insurer, separate from a partner or replace an emergency contact, the old arrangement does not update itself.

Tell us.

Finally, someone has to notify Tomorrow.bio early. A perfect contract and fully funded policy cannot compensate for a call that never happens.

Your emergency contacts should know that you are a member, where to find the emergency number and that speed matters. If a partner strongly disagrees with your decision, it is much better to deal with that conflict while you are alive.

What if my family is against it? deals with that problem directly. The short version is not to build a time-sensitive arrangement around somebody who may refuse to activate it.

Then the operational work becomes ours

There is a point where explanations of preparation accidentally make cryopreservation sound like a logistics hobby for the member.

It is not.

You are not expected to find a perfusion team, reserve an ambulance, negotiate with a funeral home, prepare transport documents or coordinate entry into Switzerland.

Tomorrow.bio handles the operational cryopreservation chain. Depending on the circumstances, that includes medical standby, team dispatch, field cryoprotection, coordination with local funeral partners and authorities, transport and handover for long-term care.

The exact route depends on where and how a person dies. That is why early warning and accurate information are so valuable: they give our team time to prepare the route before minutes become hours.

If local authorities or a funeral partner ask for a document that only you can provide in advance, we will ask you for it. You provide the information. We do the coordination.

This division of responsibility is what makes the system manageable.

You should understand the broad sequence, of course. The article on what happens when you need us explains it without turning you into the project manager of your own emergency.

And if something is unclear during onboarding, ask. A ten-minute conversation is better than letting one unresolved question sit in your account for six months.

Simple does not mean automatic

In conversations with members, one pattern appears in many different forms: people can spend years thinking about biostasis, then move through the practical steps quickly once they finally decide.

The delay was rarely caused by the length of the form.

Sometimes it was cost. Sometimes geography. Sometimes one unanswered question. Often it was the ordinary human tendency to postpone a decision that feels important but not urgent today.

Completing the first payment can bring real relief. The open decision is finally closed.

But that emotional relief can create a small trap: the account feels finished before the arrangement is operationally complete.

So use a more concrete test.

If Tomorrow.bio received an emergency call today, could we identify you, confirm the signed contract, verify accepted funding and reach the right people without searching for missing information?

If yes, excellent. Review the arrangement when your life changes and keep your contacts informed.

If not, you do not need a new philosophy of death. You probably need to finish one specific task.

That is the honest meaning of a simple sign-up process. It is not one magic click. It is a short chain in which every responsibility has an owner, every incomplete step is visible and Tomorrow.bio carries the difficult operational work.

The decision can be enormous. The administration does not have to be.
